I am now SAHM of 2. My schedule seems so hectic-like there's never a minute to spare if I want to be done with everything that needs to be done by bedtime. I don't understand how other moms do it. I see some moms in my nabe who hang out at the playground with their kids day and night. How are they doing it and keeping up with kids and families needs as well as the household stuff? Maybe I'm just working too slowly. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I really don't. I even have a cleaning lady who comes every two weeks. I do all the in-between stuff or the house turns into a disaster. But its not just cleaning-its making sure the kids are clean, fed, played with, safe, etc. Making sure bills are paid, laundry is done, food is cooked, shopping is done, supplies are on hand, etc. [ Reply | More ]

Well, I don't do always keep up. Sometimes ds doesn't get a bath, we run out of bed, we have take-out too often, etc. And our aparmtent is usually messy. dh does pays the bills right now, so that helps. [ Reply | More ]

Get a housekeeper. If you can't afford one, have DH do household stuff or divvy up on weekends. [ Reply | More ]

something's got to give; either the house is a mess or the kids spend more time playing by themselves or whatever. nobody can do it all, but lots have help and lots just let it go. [ Reply | More ]

we order in on nice days so we can stay outside instead of running home to cook. if you are outside, the house stays cleaner. we have housekeepers for major stuff and laundry [ Reply | More ]

I try to make a schedule for myself. Most days I hang out with DD some but also clean certain things. I schedule at least one day a week to go to the playground and just play with her though. [ Reply | More ]

they don't cook dinner (their kids eat fast food everynight), they have dust bunnies all over the place, and they have loads of laundry piling up -- or at least that's what i try to tell myself... [ Reply | More ]

OMG, no wonder. My 3 y/o is a huge handful. If I were as out to lunch as I was when he was 5 months, I cannot IMAGINE how you do ANYTHING. [ Reply | More ]

Lots are not "doing it"...you just think they are. A small, small number may be but the rest aren't, or at least are getting help. YOu need to let some stuff go and not worry about it. [ Reply | More ]

My kids are 15 months apart and I found it helpful to establish, small, do-able routines for my day. I used "Flylady.net" site for help. But don't start trying to do too much all at once. All I did for about a month and a half was make myself keep my kitchen clean, cleaned it up everynight before bed. Then I added making my bed each morning, throwing in a load of wash after getting breakfast on. Start small. Do away with the idea that your whole house is going to be in perfect condition at all times.Set your timer and only do 10,15-20 minute "pick-ups" in different rooms. Good luck. Cut yourself some slack. [ Reply | More ]
