It's the Irish-Riveria of NJ. I find it cookie-cutterish and boring. Not much to do other than go to the beach and drink at bars (if you are into plaid shorts and braided belts). [ Reply | More ]

There are very few bars in Spring Lake. It is pretty dry, actually. Low key and family friendly. Spring Lake Inn is one block from the beach and takes families. [ Reply | More ]

My husband and I went there a few years ago and it's beautiful, but if your not Irish, and your skin is a little darker, you get looks-I'm not kidding [ Reply | More ]

The beach is the big draw. If you have a car drive down to Point Pleasant for (low key) rides on the board walk and Jensen's pier. The pizza shop and the chocolate shop in town are good places to hit. Most like the ice cream at Hoffman's best; I prefer lower key Susan Murphy's The seafood at Mister Shrimp's in Belmar(one town over) is very good and fresh and quick. It is a BYOB place. Fun food...texmex done beach style cheap and low key at Surf Taco in Manasquan (and Belmar) as well as Fins in Bradley Beach. All of these towns are very close together. Nice little lunch places and strolling around in Ocean Grove (also a dry town, byob at night for dinner). Do you need recs for a a verynice dinner sans kids? [ Reply | More ]
