Anyone else feeling very blue about the end of preschool? I am excited about where DC is headed next year, and I have a baby at home who hasn't even started preschool yet - but I find myself feeling very depressed about the older one "graduating" from this phase of her life. I get like this with all transitions, I think, but it seems a bit strange to be so blue about the end of the nursery years. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

try to think on the bright side: you know where your DC is headed next year. my dd is on 5 wait-lists and we're waiting for lottery results to hear if she's gotten into the public school we like in district 1. you're lucky to not be in this kind of limbo. I am a little sad. My ds has made great friends where he is, and I'll miss the parents and other kids. Also really scared about how ds will react to changing schools. He's be in the same place since infancy. [ Reply | More

Thanks for this. I thought I was the only one. DC has been at the same ps for 3 years, and today is her last day. I am really feeling sad. Thrilled she'll be in a good private for K, but we won't know a single person, and she'll be the newbie. Have loved the other parents and friends from ps. sigh... [ Reply | More

OP - That's exactly how I feel. Excited about what is to come, but very melancholy. We know a few other families going into K at DD's new school, so it's not totally unknown, but the preschool feels so homey to me by now. [ Reply | More
