(sheesh, sorry). I have to admit to being very confused by your most recent email. When I signed up no one stated that school chaperone positions were only open to certain parents. Had I known that, I would not have taken the necessary day off from work to accomodate this trip. Again, I have to reiterate that I am confused, and honestly, somewhat alarmed at the selective nature of this process since it seems to exclude more than it includes. Meanwhile, since we are not dealing with some state mandate by which the school is bound, I am sure we can make allowances for this one trip; especially since I have already taken the time off from work. Meanwhile, it seems a shame for the school to minimize parents' participation at a time when society tells us we should be participating more - - perhaps this is something that needs to be addressed by the school's governing body. It seems a shame for the school to limit those parents who can participate by putting parameters in place that seem at best, cliqueish and at worst, discriminatory. One could only hope that a school would be promoting broad based participation by the parents versus the reverse. I look forward to hearing from you and to joining this class trip. [ Reply | More
