Allay my fears, please. 4 yo DD has been intermittently complaining for a week or two that one spot on her head hurts. Not like holding her head crying hurts, but sort of this is bugging me hurts. When we ask if it's inside or outside, she says outside, but we can't find a bump or a rash or anything. I'm a freak admittedly, but now I'm convinced she has a brain tumor. I have a call in to a neurologist to get a referral for an MRI, but I'm so freaked about it. Tell me I'm crazy, please. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

We're kind of between peds (we're really unhappy with our current one) and -- admittedly, I'm not a doctor, but -- what are they going to do? There is nothing to see. I just want to make sure everything is okay in terms of something awful. [ Reply | More ]

I'm a firm believer in not caring if I appear like a crazy hypochondriacal mom. I'd rather pay the money, get told I'm a hysteric, and be calm than not go at all. So good for you for making the MRI appointment. That said, yeah, it is almost certainly nothing. Insect bite, bruise, you know the list. [ Reply | More ]

you go right to brain tumor from that? No neurological symptoms? No odd behaviors? The pain is on the outside? You are not just crazy, you are insane and so totally anxious and over-reactive your DD has probably concocted this to see what kind of reaction you'll have. Sheesh. [ Reply | More ]

Well, I should add that she has had a history of seizures in the past, but hasn't had one for a good year now. She had one EEG done that read normal when she had her first seizure, and they decided that her seizures were more likely severe "breathing spells" so we let it go. But as you can see, we do have a history of scary head stuff for her. Your response was really harsh and if you knew me, you'd know how wrong you are. We rarely call the doctor for anything. Brain problems are scary sh*t, though. [ Reply | More ]

I don't think you are crazy/insane/overly anxious. That was a rude response above. Sorry you are scared. I'm sure it's fine, but do yourself a favor and get it checked [ Reply | More ]
