ds is received related services through CPSE. Having his CSE meeting soon and I hear everyone say "you have to fight for them". But HOW exactly do you fight for this? What ammunition can I use? Other than just sitting there and insisting that he needs this? PT, OT and social skills group. Thanks. So new to this. Will watch this post. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

You really need a "team". Your team is a good Developmental Ped and any therapists you may be using. The Dev Ped will give you reports which will suggest therapies needed and frequency. Share these with the DOE. When people say "fight" it means that you need to know your rights. The DOE will often give you minimal services 2 or 3 x30 minute sessions when you can actually get 60 min sessions. Often if there is a dx from a Dev. Ped you will be able to get the max about of services. GL [ Reply | More ]

Most of us are fighting by placing our kids in SN schools and to do this we hire lawyers; our lawyers give good advice on getting other services too. You also, as pp says, learn and exercise your rights, and have a report from a neuropsych or dev ped that supplies ammunition. [ Reply | More ]
