Westport. Good: Beach, Tennis, Golf, Schools - no pressure about preschool etc, Yard for kids to run around, Big Supermarkets, Trader Joe's, Levitt in the summer, great stuff to do with kids, Bad: Restaurants that are lame and dead by 10pm- forget about it during the week, nothing to do at night except play Bunko, go to dinner & movie, Lack of Energy in the air (except in the summer at the beach or Levitt), SAHM act like they are still in High School, [ Reply | More

I live in Fairfield. A lot of people in Fairfield cannot stand Westport and would never live there. My sister in Westport says no one says boo about Fairfield. There is a bit of infighting within Fairfield - some sections hate other sections etc. Seems like reverse snobbism. [ Reply | More

np: we live in westport and love it here. if you are a confident person and don't get caught up in the bs of some sahm groups all is well. i've met some great down to earth friends here. no, the restaurants aren't world class restaurants like in the city, but if you are so lame to just care about your eating experiences, then westport isn't for you. keep in mind that the city isn't that far and one could go in for a nice meal every so often. we left the city and haven't looked back. i think it's all in attitude and perception. NP. I think the OR gave a very balanced view of the pros and cons of living in Westport/a suburb. It's completely different to be able to walk a few blocks or take a cab to an endless supply of great restaurants, and having a community has its drawbacks. [ Reply | More

it's hard to not like a place where it is a nonstop flight to the rest of the world. tried booking a vacation today. wanted it to try the US for a change. could not find any good hotels, good food, etc... all up and down the Atlantic Ocean coastline was one sad state of affairs. [ Reply | More

Usually not, but this week my car was broken into and vandalized by someone who left their drug paraphenelia behind in the car. They destroyed my kids carseats. The cops did nothing but take a report and did not handle the drug items. I had to take them out of my car with gloves. This is when I don't like living in NYC. [ Reply | More

Lately, I wish lived someplace with a little outdoor space, just enough for a few green things and a grill. I guess we could do that in queens, but we have a good deal in Manhattan, and DC's school is 3 blocks away. If we had a country place and/or a car, I guess I wouldn't feel quite so trapped, even though I know we are lucky, good school close to good apartment we bought years ago, though it is small (1 bedroom). But I always feel trapped when summer comes, because when you have no outdoor space, summer is the same as winter. [ Reply | More
