I gave birth five weeks ago and have been on a 2000 calorie a day diet. I go to the gym 6 times a week. I breastfeed (not exclusively). I lost 24 pounds since delivery but since last week I haven't lost a pound. I'm still 20 pounds heavier than my original weight and feel this is becoming so difficult. Any ideas on how to drop these 20 pounds? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

you need to cut down to 500 calories, and on the day when you don't work out you shouldn't eat at all [ Reply | More ]

I find this post so disturbing. You gave birth 5 weeks ago - you have a healthy, beautiful new life. You will drop the weight, focus on your child. [ Reply | More ]

OP: I'm very focused on my child as I'm with him 20 hours every day. I'm sorry but when I go back to work 7 weeks from today, the whole weight thing will be harder. Most of my clothes don't fit anymore and I don't like the way I look. Is it too hard for people to understand? [ Reply | More ]

its not that we don't understand, its that you don't seem to have the self awareness to see how pathological your behavior is. you should not be working out 6 days per week, 5 weeks post partum. any trainer in the world would back me up on this. [ Reply | More ]

Just keep working out and watch your calories. It is normal to not lose weight every single week. You do need to be more realistic, though. Most women take months to a year to lose the baby weight. [ Reply | More ]

people are different though. i think op is impatient, but it's not fair to say why would she even have kids. that's going too far, obviously. she could be the best mama in the world and just be obsessive about her weight loss. [ Reply | More ]

OP: Gym is next door to where I live and I work out for an hour. You must be a suburban mom, fat and ugly and your husband must be cheating on you. People here are not helping or supportive of issues, just judgmental bitches without lives or careers or fulfillment. For the record, yes, I want to be with my child who is gorgeous, yes, I want my body back and to look healthy and hot for me, my husband and my baby and yes, I'm coming back to work in 7 weeks and I happen to have a very successful career that will require a lot of my time. If people here just think about hving babies and becoming fat and whose only topic of conversation is diapers and spit up, please go ahead. [ Reply | More ]

first of all, I live in the City. Second, I happen to be a partner in a law firm. third, I happen to have 3 kids, and with all of them the wieght came off at a natural and normal pace and when they were 5 weeks old, I wasn't focsuing on hte gym or my wieght, I was focusing on them, becuase I knew I would have to go back to work soon enough and focus on other things. Finally, as far as my hottness and my husband cheating. I think I am pretty hot, but if your self -esteem and the hope the hope that your husband won't cheat on you at some point is tied up in your wieght and "hotness" you are in for some rude surprises in your life. My husband loves me -wheither I wearing a size 4 like I did before I got pregant, or any number between than at 14 (that I wore after I gave birth). Grow up. [ Reply | More ]

I am just annoyed that she got me so riled up that my post looks like it was written by an illiterate. Actually I feel bad for her. Her priorities are all out of whack and she is clearly very insecure. [ Reply | More ]

it could be helpful for you to recognize the insecurity coming out in the above post....that if you don't get your hot body back immediately, your husband might stray. Give yourself a break....if working out makes you feel good, keep it up and it's obvious on that schedule you will lose the weight in very short order. [ Reply | More ]

Wow you shouldn't post here if you can't handle the critics. On the other hand. You need to give your body a chance to get back to normal. 5 weeks is not long enough, and sorry to say sista your body will never be 100% the same. I give you props for trying, but you may need to back off a bit let your body reshape a bit and then go at it in the gym. [ Reply | More ]

and I re-read your post and I am more convinced than ever that you have issues...why say your child is gorgeous? what does this have to do with anything? You are clearly some kind of obessive person who thinks that everyone's (including your child's) value is wrapped up in how they look. [ Reply | More ]

If this isn't a joke, I would suggest that you consult a nutritionist. First of all, a lot of the weight you lose the first few weeks has absolutely nothing to do with working out or your diet -- much of it is water weight and fluids that you retained when pregnant. So if you purge all of that, it makes sense that weight loss would be slower after that. If you are breastfeeding, you should definitely consult with a nutritionist about how / what you should be eating. You might be working out too much and sending your body into starvation mode.
