no but sil has 3 kids and 2 dogs and they live a crazy busy lifestyle; also, they never go away and we go away often for weekends, so I wouldn't want to deal with that [ Reply | More ]

only if you can afford a dog walker and a cleaning lady to come in. otherwise, as lovely as they are it becomes a huuuuuge responsibility, esp if you already have kids. the potty training is more messy than with children, so try to get one who's already trained. that said, they're a lot of fun. i had doubts and wouldn't trade my dog for all the tea in china.if you are willing to sacrifice the money, time, and hassel then do it. if you only want a dog sometimes (when it's fun), then don't. look at it like a kid - taking it back or giving it up cannot be an option. [ Reply | More ]

^^unless you can take time of work to potty train or come home at lunch every day get an adult. petfinder.com. don't get more dog than you can realistically handle (smaller is better for most imo). [ Reply | More ]

if you get one try to adopt one that needs a home rather than ordering up one from a breeder....if you want a pure bred check rescue websites. [ Reply | More ]

No if you have to ask. Dogs need a lot of attention, time and effort. I really wanted a dog until I got one and realised how hard it was! [ Reply | More ]

Yes! Your dog will be your best friend! Though if you've never had a dog before I would suggest getting an adult dog (2-3 years old) from the pound. You're doing a good thing, he (or she) will adore you for it, and you're teaching good values to your child. [ Reply | More ]
