it seems like a lot of women use their last name as the middle name for their son. I didn't do that and I regret it. DS is 3..do you think I can change his middle name? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

your kid will probably live to be 87. that's 84 years with your name. it's not too late. [ Reply | More ]

You can change, but have to do it at court/legally (my kids have my last name as middle name). [ Reply | More ]

^I'm okay with it. HowsomeEver. I do think it's weird to change a baby's name after birth. I don't know why, but I do. [ Reply | More ]

I think it would be a huge pain for something so trivial. Middle names are reduced to initials 95% of the time. Nobody cares about a middle name and has virtually nothing to do with your identity. [ Reply | More ]

I gave both my DD and DS two middle names, the first is a name I liked, the second is my last name. I like that my family is acknowledged, it's also a cultural thiing. [ Reply | More ]

On the con side, it's a little egotistical, and it keeps them from having a second option for a name that it actually something they could use [ Reply | More ]

I posted above. Not being rude, I'm confused, can you explain your post? [ Reply | More ]

Ok, I have my mom's maiden last name as my middle name, so I can't use it instead of my first name. I'm pretty much stuck with my first name. I have her family name, which is nice, but really, that's about her more than me. My brother switched from his first name to his middle name, because he wanted a more ordinary name for a while. I didn't have that option. It's not a big deal really, but there you go. [ Reply | More ]

yes, but the OR gave her kids two middle names, only one of which was her maiden name, so they can still use the other middle name as their given name if that's what they want. [ Reply | More ]

I did the exact same thing with my dds, but it's not a cultural thing, it was just something I felt I had to do. [ Reply | More ]

my maiden name was a girls first name (and not a pretty one). I use it as my middle name, but didn't strap db with it. [ Reply | More ]
