You are misrepresenting what the Times article said. Some kids going into K in the 234 zone have been placed on a waitlist for that school. No one has been placed in an upper east side school at this time. I don't remember the price of an apartment being given either. [ Reply | More ]

And this surprises you? Most schools only have one preK classroom if any at all (the crowded ones have none), so obviously not all families can be accomodated. I would make it income based for families that can't afford private preschool only. [ Reply | More ]

The problem is that there should be something between the free preschools and the $23K a year preschools. I live in NJ and my dcs go to a program that costs $300 a month. There is no free school, but just about anyone can afford it. And I completely disagree that preschool is just babysitting, and is not necessary. [ Reply | More ]
