Help from Ebay moms? I just "won" my first item and it arrived today. It was stated in used but "like new" condition. In fact there is a small but fatal defect in the item which renders it all but useless. It seems like it was kind of sneaky - Everything looks good but the performance is damaged because of this flaw (connector of hose to vaccuum keeps coming out). Do I have recourse? Can I ask for my money back? Thanks! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

first, email the seller and tell them in a very calm way what happened -- the connector keeps coming out and then ask what the seller would like to do. either he or she will send a new one or refund your money. if not, you can leave negative feedback or file a claim with ebay and paypal... ok thanks this is so helpful. But if I contact the Seller won't he deny the defect - having already said the vacuum was in like-new condition? [ Reply | More ]

he can deny it but ebay has a new rating system and you can leave him a negative but he can't retaliate. just ask nicely and then you'll see how to proceed when you get his reply. [ Reply | More ]

NP: I sometimes sell on eBay and recently had a similar issue. I listed a dress as "excellent" condition and didn't check it very carefully before starting the auction. It sold (for a high price!), but the buyer contacted me to say that there was a small rip (on a seam, fixable). I gave her a $10 refund and she was happy and we left each other positive feedback. In my case, it was truly a mistake! GL! [ Reply | More ]
