What is something that you are proud of? Among other things, that we own our home in Brownstone Bklyn and our HHI has never been (and never will be) above 130K. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

When we first met, we lived in a studio in an 'edge' bklyn neighborhood for three years and saved liked maniacs. We brought our lunches and only drank lite beer when out etc. Our friends thought we were insane b/c they were all going out and having a lot of fun. And, at the time, I was jealous of them but was sorta obsessed about buying since I knew prices were only going up and I know we'll never make a ton since we are both social workers. [ Reply | More ]

OP here - Of course, I am very proud of many other things and certainly owning my home is not my proudest accomplishment but when people cry poor on here w/ 300K incomes, I do tend to feel proud of my home ownership. [ Reply | More ]

You should be. I didn't mean anything by post. I was just thinking about what makes me proud at the moment. [ Reply | More ]

Willingness to read and read and read aloud to them. Setting an example by alwasy having a book to read and talking about books. Reading the same books as them at the same time (or pre-reading to find just the right books) and discussing tghem with relish. Limiting TV time. Allowing them to stay up reading in bed, and lawyas putting books in bed with them...even as little babies. And good luck. [ Reply | More ]
