i feel like one of the reasons we are seeing more of this is that technology and early intervention are making pregnancies that would have lasted 8 weeks a few years ago last 20 weeks today...but, i'm not a dr [ Reply | More ]

np: I discovered that there's nothing they can really do to prolong - let alone save - a pg. They don't even bother trying. I think people with uterine abnormalities (like me) and old eggs (like me) are getting pregnant with unsustainable pgs though. [ Reply | More ]

I actually have two kids now. Out of 7 pregnancies. On total bedrest, cervix trussed up like a turkey, and barely getting through them. And at 20 weeks when I went into labor with #1, they were really up front about how the meds they were giving wouldn't really stop the labor if it was true labor and there was nothing they could really do. Lucky for me and db, I stopped contracting. [ Reply | More ]

true - you can't "save" an early pregnancy w/ any technological intervention that I've ever heard of [ Reply | More ]

you can determine if you are high risk and be extra vigilant about bed rest and nutrition and acupuncture...peopole do all kinds of things [ Reply | More ]

of course, but that's not what or was talking about, and no amt of bedrest can stop a genetic abnormality [ Reply | More ]

I did do all kinds of things. But OBs will all tell you that bedrest doesn't really work, they put women on it because they want to feel like they've done everything they could, but it does not improve outcomes. [ Reply | More ]
