What is an average age that dc writes their own name? My 3 yo wants to, and can spell it, but doesn't have close to the fine motor skills to write the letters. He is getting frustrated that he can't do it. We try to divert at this point. Any idea? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

My 3 yo can spell it but can only write two letters thus far. She is working on it. I think 3 is pretty early and most do it at around 5. Let him keep practicing. I would work on one letter at a time until perfected [ Reply | More

mine was around 3.5 and it was an easy name. wrap your hand around his to help him write the letters and it will turn into drawing on the page quickly (which will help improve his fine motor skills). [ Reply | More
