Any working moms on? I'm thinking of going back to work next year. I've been a SAHM for 3 years and just had my last DB. I want my career back, but how do you handle being away from them all day? Some days I can imagine that it is honestly a relief (there are only so many poopy diapers and tantrums one can handle in a 24 hour period) but other days must be gut-wrenching. Any insight? why not wait another year until your youngest is ready for school anyway? [ Reply | More ]

My youngest is only 3 months old. I'd be going the nanny route with her. It isn't so much the idea of having a nanny as DD is easy going and happy to be with just about anyone, it's more missing out on things. [ Reply | More ]

if you can start out pt, I think it's good to ease your way back in. That's what I'm doing. DD started preschool this spring and will go in the fall. I started a 1 day a week job and will work more hours soon. Mixed feeings about it so far. Miss her when I'm not with her, but at the same tiem, it's nice to haev a little freedom again [ Reply | More ]

I'm hoping to find something that will allow me to work some days in the office some days at home, or gradually ramp up to full time, but I'm not sure if this is just plain naive at this point. I'll have to see what's out there and then decide. [ Reply | More ]

the being away from them is the easy part. You get used to that pretty quickly. It's all the other stuff, juggling family, work responsibility, having no time to yourself, lots more stress, feeling guitly for not doing more at work and at home, etc. That's what's tough. Really tough imo. [ Reply | More ]

Is it worth it to you? That is, assuming you have the choice between working or staying at home? [ Reply | More ]

I don't really have choice, but I wouldn't stay home full time even if I could afford it. That said, wroking full time at stressful jon (I am a lawyer), is super hard. I am trying to find PT work, not really becuase I want more time with DS, per se, but becuase there just aren't enough hours in hte day to everything that needs to be done and I live with a constant sense of letting people down becuase I can't get it all done. I really need a full weekend to spend with DC, 4 days to work and one day to myself to get sh*t done (i.e. errands, housework, a haircut, etc.) That would be ideal. [ Reply | More ]
