I started weaning my 2yo dd yesterday afternoon by putting garlic on my nipples. It is going amazingly well. She doesn't seem upset just ever so slightly annoyed. Can't believe I waited this long. Anyway: What are good ways to reduce engorgement? I am taking hot showers in which I had express, I just don't want to encourage more production. TIA [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

No advice, but kudos for bf'ing so long. I'm down to 1 feed per day with my 14mo (I'm a WOHM mom, so it was getting tough to do more). DH and day-care keep asking when I'm going to wean, but I'm having a hard time emotionally. Your post made me realize ds probably won't care that much! [ Reply | More ]

I never thought she would accept it because she had become extremely demanding and aggressive. Good luck on your progress and good going with bfing too. : ) [ Reply | More ]

BTW, I thought that I'd be giving up the closeness but last night we cuddled instead of nursed and she gave me the best hugs and smiles that I've ever gotten so I think emotionally I'll be just fine. [ Reply | More ]

How many times per day was she still nursing? We were down to one or two so I didn't really have a problem with engorgement except the first couple mornings. I just expressed some in the shower in the morning to relieve some pressure. [ Reply | More ]
