Any moms on who split up the MMR shot? How did you go about doing it? We couldn't give db mmr at 1 yo visit bc we had travel plans in a couple of weeks. I just scheduled one of the shots for next week (I actually put it off longer than i should have) and her 15 mo appointment is 5 weeks later, so she will get another shot then, and the 3rd at the 18 month visit. Does this sound reasonable? There are some boosters scheduled for 15 mo and boosters + chicken pox at the 18 mo, is that too much? Ped is basically flexible. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

If you are breaking them up best to leave 6wks between. The whole idea is not bombard the kids with too many vaccines simultaneously. Maybe put off the chiken pox or just not give it (not required and in many cases, not very effective anyway). [ Reply | More

The CDC schedule just shows one MMR booster between 4-6 years. I would hold off on MMR until 2 years and don't do it with the chicken pox. She can get that one before she starts kindergarten. Breaking up MMR doesn't really seem to help...all the testing has been done on the combo shot and more shots equal more aluminum. [ Reply | More
