we bought a phone for $50 from Mobal that you don't have to buy a plan for. you can just use it whenever you travel and pay by the minute. it's not cheap but I don't think anything is [ Reply | More

we do a lot of travelling, so we have an unlocked phone and will pick up a local SIM card where ever we are, so we have local service and can call back to the US for much less. The initial outlay for an unlocked phone is high, but if you do a lot of travelling, it's worth it. [ Reply | More
