HELP. I have a just turned 3yo boy and I feel like he has gotten a real aggressive streak. He is a real lovey dovey kid...lots of hugs and kisses for everyone, but all of a sudden that is coupled with pinches and pushes and hits. I feel like I"m at my wits end and spend playdates yelling at my son. HELP. I need advice, I'm too wrapped up in this to figure it out. TIA. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Take a breath--totally normal, even for kids who weren't previously agressive to go through an agressive phase. Find a method of discipline and stick with it consistently--don't talk to much or explain too much. Just "if you do X, Y is going to happen" and then follow through EVERY SINGLE time. If it means leaving where you are, so be it. Three sucks btw. [ Reply | More ]

It is par for a lot of kids. Correct him and make sure your attention does not become just negative -- that is the hard thing to master. [ Reply | More ]

normal...testing out new "powers." But you have to also say that you will leave the park, playdate, class whatever if he does something that you warn him not to do. And you must carry through with your threat. [ Reply | More ]
