Help. I may have to be induced for #2. Had horrible, scary reaction to induction drug w/#1, and was SO hoping to avoid that. Anyone have a good second-time-around story to share? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

what reaction did you have? I was induced for a 2nd time w/ #2 and it went really smoothly. went in around 6:30 am, started pitocin maybe an hour later. fully dilated by noon. pushed 3 times and baby came out. #1 was harder, pushed for 3 hours, had major bleeding afterwards. [ Reply | More

I was given cytotec. Had uterine hyperstimulation, hemmorage, difficulty w/retained placenta-- during I just knew it was horrible-- didn't realize until later that db and I were in danger. I won't get that same drug again, but even doc says they don't know if it was specific to that, or just my body's sensitivity to these kinds of drugs. I'm terrified of it. [ Reply | More

I can see why you are scared. what is their plan for the induction in terms of what drugs? are they going to try giving you lower dosages (not a medical person so dont know if that's even effective). Good luck! [ Reply | More

thanks. she said maybe a low-dose pitocin. I'll only need it if my water breaks first , b/c I'm positive for group b strep. But my water broke first last time... I just hate having no control, and not knowing the odds of something bad happening again. It's like feeling around in the dark. [ Reply | More

np: my water broke the first time around and we had to induce. it was a very long induction. second time around they ended up inducing b/c i was overdue with no signs of delivering and it was quick and easy. good luck. [ Reply | More
