Maybe Larchmont/Mamaroneck as I have a bunch of friends in both and the commute is good. Or maybe Greenwich (I'd have to see if the people were too flashy) or Westport because Westchester is possibly overrated. [ Reply | More ]

- Oh, I just saw the poster below. Katonah/Bedford is my favorite part of Westchester, I forgot. But the train ride is long. It is so pretty there. [ Reply | More ]

- OR. I think in some parts you just don't get that much for your money and the taxes are bad. Even though the commute is good and the schools are often good. DH is not from here and he doesn't get the whole Westchester is great/NJ is the pits thing. I think it depends on how much you have to spend. [ Reply | More ]

You're right. You get jack for a lot of money and not a lot of land AND the taxes are outrageous. You have to factor how much $ you have to spend before considering towns in Westchester. If sky's the limit than move on over to Rye, Scarsdale, Bronxville. If you've got a budget, Ardsley is a good deal with good schools. Commute also is an obvious consideration. [ Reply | More ]

I don't know -- just heard from other posters on UB that the schools are good and the towns have some life to them. Esp Ardsley. It think they are fairly affordable. [ Reply | More ]

Ardsley does not have a train station, but has decent prices and taxes and good schools. [ Reply | More ]

This is the big issue...my ds is very young still and I did not have choice as my housing is connected to my job. Bronxville has good schools...yonkers leaves something to be desired [ Reply | More ]

Chappaqua, Mt. Kisco, Pleasantville. They are a little further north, but charming, lovely towns with great schools. [ Reply | More ]

We just moved from UWS to Larchmont and love it. Despite high taxes, selected it because proximity to NYC, on the Sound, great schools, very pedestrian friendly. Also, close to stores, very convenient. I hate having to drive forever to get a cup of coffee or a container of milk. Also love RYE [ Reply | More ]
