WWYD? single mom, have been freelancing for 2 yrs and doing ok with money but not great (ie I can't save much.) Upside: I don't pay childcare besides DD's school. Downside: Sometimes companies pay me months late, causing a temporary but scary crunch. Now I've been offered a full time office job which at least would pay me on time, but the salary is only $45k and I'd have to pay childcare after school/camp until the fall--totalling about $4000 over the summer. Upside: has benefits. Downside: how can I live on that and pay any babysitting? what to do? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

i'd continue to freelance (assuming you can get steady work) and get a line of credit with your bank for the tough times. we freelance as well and have the same issue. the LOC makes a huge diff in getting through the times when the accounts receivables are piling up. [ Reply | More
