how much should an average salary be for a publicist who has 5 years of very good experience in journalism (plus a bunch of awards and 2 ivy degrees), but has never worked in PR? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

you would be lucky to get a job much less worry about what your salary will be. PR dorks are dime a dozen [ Reply | More ]

I have an offer but I don't like the salary. Didn't want to do PR...it's lame...but this job is for a nonprofit I really like. I knew nonprofit would be a salary drop but this is pretty severe. [ Reply | More ]

np: I used to work in non-profit and one problem is that sometimes they just don't have the money to pay more. I negotiated working 2/3 time instead of full for same salary. If they really like you, it may be easier to do that than to get more $. [ Reply | More ]

I tried, and they said no way; weren't even interested in letting me work from home one day to save on childcare. yuck. [ Reply | More ]

you have to tell them 'no dice'. They will not be able to find anyone nearly as strong as you for 45k. There are other jobs out there, but if you take too low of a starting salary you'll be looking for a new job within 5 months. [ Reply | More ]
