You know, I have long suspected it gets 'easier' as dc's get older (even though so many btdt's won't give it up). My dc is 3yo and at drop off camp for 3 HOURS-it's heavenly! It must be fab once they go to school FT. You get life again! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

It doesn't get easier. It just changes. Because, as they get older, there's so much more to think/worry about. About academics, social life, sports etc etc ... [ Reply | More ]

Mom to 9, 7, and 2 here. parenting older dcs is definitely less physically exhausting, but emotionally more stressful - guiding them to make the right choices, watching them make their own friends and worrying about that, worrying about academics, etc. [ Reply | More ]

down the road, when your dd's friends decide she's not "in" anymore or your son doesnt make the sports team he really wants to or your child has a severe problem in school, you will look back on this time in your life as pretty darn great. Make the most of your dc's nap times! [ Reply | More ]

I have different feelings than you. For me, to deal with more mature issues is easier. I can remember the feelings and really empathize with my dcs. They can respond appropriately. Dealing with a two year old who is fussy and cranky and not understanding why drove me crazy. [ Reply | More ]

I have three dcs (9, 7, and 3) and prefer parenting the older ones as it is not so monotonous (sp?). Plus, the older ones do not have to be constantly watched...I can take a shower, walk on the treadmill for a half an hour, etc. [ Reply | More ]
