Often it is a gross amount, structured out over X months (ie: $100,000 payable over 48 mos). The easiest thing would be to figure out a fair gross amount and assume a structured payment over 36-48 mos. [ Reply | More

Just a part. Also important is the wife's salary, whether the division of assets gives her a settlement she can live on, etc. Without a prenup though, it is hard to predict. A lot of wives who expect alimony are surprised to learn ungenerous most divorce laws are to non-working spouses. [ Reply | More
