Almost 2 yo ds is incredibly active and takes off like a shot as soon as he hits the playground. I am 29 weeks pg and basically can't keep up with him there. I was hoping to do a swim class with him this summer before the baby comes. Any chance he'll be more manageable in a contained environment (albeit a pool) with fewer people around or am I nuts? Like, is he going to swim off? How could he do that? He probably won't follow directions too well, but he's only 2. The "swim class" is really about getting to know the water. [ Reply | More ]

No, that he'll thrash and try to swim off or run all around the pool or something. [ Reply | More ]

Start teaching your dc to follow rules and listen to directions. He is old enough and it is only going to get harder. [ Reply | More ]

Try talking about rules before you get someplace. Makes it easier on both of you when he is in the moment. [ Reply | More ]

He won't get far if he's swimming! You'll have to talk ahead of time about no running around a pool. Also, a teacher may have more authority than you. Go for it and see how it goes. Swimming is really tiring, so make it work for you. [ Reply | More ]
