not sure, but know that her dr said she had some thing up that made it look like an issue because it happened with both kids and both are 100% fine. [ Reply | More ]

really?...my best friend is 35 and had a level 2 last week and they told her that there were 2 "markers" showing on the baby that are indicative to Trisomy 18, but not everything...so she's flipping out. She's having another ultrasound in 3 weeks and is going out of her mind. All the measurements they took of the baby are all within the normal range, though [ Reply | More ]

This was all told to me recently but in passing by my friend. I was not around during her pg. She said for her first they told her 1 in 1000 say and with the second it was 1 in 79 chance. But amnio came back fine and then babies were born fine. [ Reply | More ]

that's terrible...my best friend is 35 and just had a level 2 and they told her that there are a couple of "markers" showing on the baby that is a red flag for trisomy 18 so she's having another ultrasound in 3 weeks to compare [ Reply | More ]

In that case she should just hope for the best. Lots of times those soft markers are way off. It might be worth talking to a genetic counselor though. I refused an amnio when my nuchal wasn't great b/c I knew I woulnd't terminate a baby with Down. But Trisomy 18 is a bit of a different story. Might be worth getting some more info. [ Reply | More ]

that's what I told her, she only has the issue with the intestines and there may be 2 cysts on the brain but they think they will go away on their own. The genetic counselor did speak to her and her husband and they said that this intestinal issue is a major marker for Trisomy 18...what do you know about it? [ Reply | More ]

np: if the baby has trisomy 18, he/she will more than likely die in utero. if the baby is born alive, he/she will not live long. i hope your friend's baby does not have trisomy 18 [ Reply | More ]
