Have 3 wo and 2 yo and am shell shocked by how hard this is. Am having particular trouble soothing/tending to newborn while trying to fix meals, put older dc down for nap, etc. Any advice? I do have sitter coming for a couple hours a day over next few weeks so I can nap while older dc does. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I have a 3 yo and a 1 yo so I was you a year ago. Honestly, older DS watches a lot of TV while I'm dealing with younger DD. [ Reply | More ]

It just sucks for the first few months. My second was somewhat colicky, and I remember spending 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. nursing her on the couch. Dramatically lower your expectations about meals. Put necessary toddler activities, like a bath, in the morning. See if you can borrow someone's sitter at crunch times during the day and evening. It will get better at the usual baby milestones. Eventually it will be great! [ Reply | More ]

ditto. with newborn nestled close in sling I could do anything with toddler and he practically forgot there was achild strapped to me. I have a 4 y.o. and 1 y.o so I feel your pain. First 5-6 months were kind of hellish. sorry to be a downer but they were. It does get better though. [ Reply | More ]

hang in there - have friends help with meals for the next few weeks. Also, I had to allow myself to just let the nb cry (which I had never done with first 1) while I put 2yo to bed. We are 5.5 mos in and it's gotten alot better. It's a long hard road, but just stay organized, put meals in the freezer when you have time, etc. GL and congrats! [ Reply | More ]
