I was thinking today that had we stopped at one child, dh and I would have been happier, but ds is happier that he has a brother. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Why do you say that? [ Reply | More ]

Because it would be easier and cheaper to have just one and focus all our attention on him. My two ds have a great time together. This weekend we were at the beach and they spent hours collecting shells and working on a castle and it was the kind of time that an adult would have a hard time providing. Don't get me wrong. The do fight also. [ Reply | More ]

My only does that stuff by herself. You will never know what it would have been like with only one, so try to enjoy the two you have and the money stuff and stress will eventually subside. [ Reply | More ]

what is the age difference between them? are you happy it was another boy or were you hoping for a dd? how did life get harder with #2? [ Reply | More ]

I don't want to have anymore. Have one dd and it is great to be able to spend all your $$ on them and give them 100% of your attention. I am just concerned about her not having siblings when dh and I are gone. It feels like such a catch 22... [ Reply | More ]

i have a 5yo and a 10mo and i often think that i would be happier selfishly without kids. they do bring me joy, but i also feel like they can suck the life out of me. now i understand all of those studies that say people with young children are less happy than people without kids. [ Reply | More ]

I don't think you are alone, but many people won't admit it. I waited eight years and I am glad that I have dd, but I also like all the things that I like...I am not willing to give up everything for someone else. I think you can have a decent balance with one child. [ Reply | More ]

it's not selfish to be happy without kids, it's normal [ Reply | More ]

Actually most studies show that they rated themselves as more stressed, but more happy. That said you are not alone. It is a very common. [ Reply | More ]

I would agree with that. You just have so much more responsibility when you have a dc. I can't imagine my life without dd, but I had such a relaxing, stress free life before her! [ Reply | More ]

We had two dc. One ds (15) and one dd (13). They are not best of friends but get along very well. The four of us feel like a real family. I'm always sort of sad for single child families because the child doesn't get to be a child as much (bad child to adult ratio), they get 100% of their parent's attention (something they will never get once they leave home) and they seem lonely.
