i wouldn't, i mean, if a gift isn't given with warm wishes that isn't generous...just a card wishing her good luck or congratulations or a speedy death would suffice. also, i assume dh will exercise his discretion here [ Reply | More ]

Probably not since I handle things like these. He has a demanding job and I am home with kids so in our marriage this falls under my discretion. [ Reply | More ]

eh, i would ask him in this case. he might want you to do some token thing more for his parent's sake or something...family dynamics can be complicated. [ Reply | More ]

^a nice pen is always a perfect and tasteful gift, and you can get a good quality pen for a reasonable price [ Reply | More ]

When I graduated from b-school I didn't expect a gift. A card would be nice, signed by DC if they are old enough. Bringing them into it conveys the notions of ongoing education, women going to school, and special achievements that are worth recognizing. Worth doing. [ Reply | More ]

or. personally, i didn't even get a gift when i graduated high school or undergrad...but if it is some kind of party and op knows gifts are being given, it is more of a formality [ Reply | More ]

Your dh's sister? If he wants to get a gift it is his choice - you really can't say no. How is she when she is around your dc? Nice or indifferent? [ Reply | More ]

Nice. what should I get her. She is just the type of person who is very hypocritical to the point where its almost comical. I don't really care if we get her something its just what to get her. We are not made of money so it has to be reasonable. I would say like $100, [ Reply | More ]

I wish I could help you but I am the worst with gifts. My sil actually requests gift cards (and mentions the store she likes)so that is what she gets. Maybe something impersonal like that isn't such a bad idea since she seems inconsiderate about buying for your dc. [ Reply | More ]

be the bigger person and get her a nice costume pearl necklace or something...a little kindness goes a long way. [ Reply | More ]
