tell me I am doing the right thing. Buying an apt I don't really love in a place I am not crazy about (forest hills) becuase we can't afford a house we really like. So we will live below our means for a few years, continue to save and then buy something we really like. This is the smart move right?? (fwiw, we can't stay where we are regardless) [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Yes, and if you are intent on moving to the burbs - this will be a nice transition. There are worse things than Forest Hills, it is a fairly easy commute into Manhattan and it is a neighborhood with lots of green and good schools if you can't move before dc reaches school age. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, you are going in with pretty low expectations so you might be pleasantly surprised. A lot of people really like it there. [ Reply | More ]

Is there a good rental market there? In a few years you can move on and have positive income from renting that place. [ Reply | More ]
