HHI of 250K. Will be selling an apt for about 450k with 300k left on hte mortgage. How much can we spend on the house. We also have about 50k in savings. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

well, you'll pay commission on the sale, that will be $27K less. so you'll have 50K plus 150K less 27K. So, $173K? and you have to have $$ left in savings to satisfy the mortgage lender, so lets say you get lucky and can put 150 down. you need 20% these days, so 750K? can you afford a 600K mortgage on 250K? Don't see why not, but don't plan on buying any furniture. [ Reply | More

So, you can put close to 200K down? You don't want a mortgage any higher than 750, so look at houses in the 850 to 925 range. [ Reply | More
