my rabbit, which was being cared for by a pet sitter, died and i called the pet sitters boss to discuss what happened. he says that he was fine when he left them on sunday and i got home on monday morning. i'm really a little suspicious and the fact that the guys boss just referred to my male rabbit as a female and described the pet sitter as "devastated" kind of raised my hackles [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

i can, if i want to, but he is insisting that nothing was wrong. he had just had full xrays, an ultrasound and bloodwork done a couple weeks ago and was determined to be in really excellent condition. his paws were all tangled up. i just feel awful for him [ Reply | More ]

yeah, i move a lot and wouldn't really know where to have him buried so i could visit. when my dog died i just had him cremated, but i knew he was sick. it being so sudden makes it hard to believe that they aren't in their bunny body anymore [ Reply | More ]

it would be a pathologist. i'm near a teaching hospital so everything is very professional. his vet assured me that it would be a pathologist alone and no one else. [ Reply | More ]

wow, yes, they get depressed when something happens to one of a mated pair. Then, yes, definitely get the autopsy done, in the event that it may be something that will or has had an effect on the mate. [ Reply | More ]

it is me, ct mom here. I am so sorry, I know you were attached to them. Get the autopsy, I would want to know if it is something that has affected the other bun. Mine was on eye-drops for a month due to having been exposed to other rabbits with a form of syphilis. unlike the human form but close in the biology tree of organisms. just contact. will it be expensive? i don't know. doesn't matter...it couldn't be that expensive. i'm really sad. i loved him a lot and have known him longer than my child. in any case, are you enjoying new ub? [ Reply | More ]

I think a lot of people don't realize how much personality these little creatures have. Will you get another mate for the female? new ub is ok, most of the gang from late nights have gone over to ybm though. I tend to spend time on each. How did you do with that big project that you were presenting? [ Reply | More ]

you know, i really just got the second rabbit as a mate for the first one because i was around less and i wanted him to have companionship. i don't think i'm much of a bunny person. i love the second rabbit now...but i would prefer not to have another one. the project was alright, i got through it. i haven't been to yb yet [ Reply | More ]

I adored mine too, she would lay across my computer in the mornings after having shared any pastries for breakfast, she loved pastry flakes, and would watch tv with me at night. not sure what she was seeing, but she would sit on the other couch with her body turned towards the television. And she was generally always full of soot from sitting in the fireplace, which she loved to do. [ Reply | More ]

lol, that is talent. it amazed me how social our dwarf belgian was. I had had not idea what rabbits were even like before we got her. what kind of rabbit did you have? was it a gift from someone? you have had it nearly the whole time you have been in college. did it adjust well to the moving? he was a mini-lop/holland-lop mix, i think. i got (stole, actually...long story) him from a pet store in colorado. i've moved with him about half a dozen times. it is kind of funny, we lived in this little rented room together when he was a baby. he's been with me through everything. he always adjusted really well, he likes exploring and stuff. poor little guy. some rabbits are so social and full of personality and some are so skittish and only into other rabbits. there's such a range. mine was an explorer, but then got skittish as she aged. Very territorial too. Will you bring him in for the autopsy tomorrow? Will they cremate him for you? [ Reply | More ]

i already brought him in yesterday, but he is just in the morgue because i couldn't decide what to do. i want to say goodbye again. they can have him cremated too, my vet said that she used the same service twice for her own pets so i am more comfortable with that. [ Reply | More ]

I get that totally, the whole house full of pets so that the first has companionship. Right now we have a cat, and I worry that she is lonely, vet said to get a small dog for her. Of course, she will neglect walking and feeding it and i will be stuck. lol. will you be in school for the summer or will you take some time off? [ Reply | More ]

i'll be interning. supposed to start next week but really don't feel up to it, i'm sort of hoping they'll say they don't want me. i think pet ownership is a huge responsibility and i take giving them a good quality of life pretty seriously...i mean, i went out of my way to bring them into my home so I better make them happy. i'm hoping she'll be ok. bonding rabbits is a whole process [ Reply | More ]

I am like that also when it comes to pet ownership. People think we are nuts that we take out Abyssinian out to the park to run her. She is so spoiled that whenever we take her into the vet, she tries to get us to adopt any that they have on hand that are homeless. It is a huge responsibility and really great for children to experience. Tell me why you would rather avoid the internship? Is it a yucky firm or group of people to have to work with? that would suck. [ Reply | More ]

it is a great firm and i was really excited but since this happened i'm really sad and i don't want to start anything new. does your kitty wear a leash? [ Reply | More ]
General Topics 05.27.08, 04:06 PM Flag

she wears a full harness and leash when we take her to the park. She love to run, full speed from tree to tree. This usually attracts small children, which she has lately taken a dislike to, not sure why. she used to be so tolerant of little children petting her, but not so much now. After a while she will begin to growl a bit. [ Reply | More ]
