When she does it, what does she say? To play devil's advocate, perhaps you are underdisciplining your child in SIL's home. [ Reply | More ]

no, she is very competitive. And disciplines differently than me. I don't hit and she does. Has hit DD's hand and yelled at her. It was not necessary. [ Reply | More ]

^ Her DD is 1 year younger. And she compares them all the time. I just don't care for it. [ Reply | More ]

Whoa. I would not bring her over either. But I would also tell SIL in way not to start WWIII that you're anti-hitting, hand included, and would appreciate if she would leave the disclpline to you while in her home [ Reply | More ]

np: after I helped my SIL picked her teeth up off the floor I would explain that she is not allowed to hit my child. [ Reply | More ]

i would say to her "no hitting!" and then send her to the timeout chair. does one adult really think it's okay to physically discipline another person's child? if she had an issue with how your kid behaves, she should bring it to your attention, not raise her hand to your child. [ Reply | More ]
