Dh's relatives have rented a house in southern France for a month this summer. They are quite old and have invited us to come sans kids. Our kids (in August) will be 8mos and 3.5yrs. I think it is only worth it to go for one week and no less. Maybe even 10days. My mom is GREAT with the kids but is this too long to be away from the 8mo? TIA [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

If I were looking to get away from my kids it would not be to the SOF with relatives, SOF is great but not to stay with relatives unless you LOVE these relatives. One thing to bring kids, free etc., but otherwise rent your own place and visit with them [ Reply | More

i think a week is ok to leave 8 mo (if you're not nursing anymore obviously), but i'd go somewhere super relaxing with dh, old relatives may not be worth missing db in my opinion. [ Reply | More
