Struggling w/placement for ds with autism in Queens. In our experience, the 6-1-1 classes are too low functioning and the 12-1-1 is too big. Has anyone been able to get a 1:1 f/t para for their dc in a 12 class without suing? Feels hopeless, wish we could afford a private. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Can you afford a funded private? Assuming you get one, once the initial legal fee is paid, you are done forever. [ Reply | More ]

^I'm specifically thinking of Learning Spring or the Child School. Both of them have small classes but the kids are higher functioning than in the 6:1:1 in publics. [ Reply | More ]

We were given this (for toileting) 12:1:1 with health para in special ed class in our community school; however that was not an appropriate setting. We ended up in a private sn school and we are in the midst of suing for reimbursement. [ Reply | More ]
