Day Care/Nanny question? I finally got my son into this greaet daycare that he had been on the list for since I was six months pregnant. He is 10 months now. He has been with the same nanny since he was three months old. He loves her and she is great with him. Putting him in daycare would save us $400/month which we really need. But I am afraid he will have a hard time and I feel guilty about letting our nanny go who is amazing with our son. Please offer your advice. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

He may have a hard time for a few days, but he'll get over it faster than you could imagine. The daycare spot sounds awesome. [ Reply | More ]

the daycare goes up to "preschool" and they have an academic setting much like a pre school. They learn letters, numbers, colors, geography. Its like a montessori setting. Its in Union Square, right in between my job and DH's job on the subway. [ Reply | More ]

sounds perfect. Go with the daycare. Not only will you save money now, but in two years, when you would need to add preschool on top of the nanny, it would cost you an additional $10k/year. So you would actually be saving $5k for the next two years and $15k for the two years after that. Is the nanny really worth the extra $40K? [ Reply | More ]

good point!! I am going to visit the daycare one more time today. I am suprised at how nervous I am about the decision. My DH is too busy at work to come see the daycare and I am afraid to make the wrong choice and get blamed for it! Ugh. [ Reply | More ]
