BTDT Moms: Slow Infant Development: My ds will be 10mo next week. He's a slowpoke developmentally, and I'm starting to worry. I can't see him hitting the 12 mo milestones -- he still keels over sometimes when sitting, can't get himself to sitting, no crawling, no clapping or waving.... ped is watchful and said we'll see where we're at at 1yr visit.... anyone else's ds like this and everything was fine over time? mine was the same way, we called EI and started him in therapy. It helped a lot. It takes a while to get started in EI so I'd say do it now. Trust your gut. [ Reply | More

OP: My dd, now 4yo, was the opposite, and still is. Walking before 11mo. On the early end of the spectrum for everything. So this is so new to me and frankly, I've been really laid back, until my last ped visit, but now I'm incredibly worried... My gut says i need to pursue asap. my ds is now 3 and on track but still a bit behind. he has low muscle tone and motor planning issues but otherwise a very happy kid. he also is apraxic (motor planning issues with his speech). don't worry. you are doing the right thing. boys are always a bit slower and maybe he just needs some extra help. do what you think is best. i found my peditrican to be too laid back for my taste.
