My DB just turned 8 mos and she can't sit up unsupported. She isn't even near crawling, she just kind of lies there. She seems to be doing fine with everything else (babbling, smiling, etc). Should I be concerned? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

our db was sitting up at 6 mo, but has been late with almost every other gross motor skill. just started pulling up to stand at almost 14 mo. Otherwise, perfectly normal -- has tons of words, eats with a fork, etc. I would just practice with her. Pull her up with her hands. if she can't go from flat, put a pill under her. [ Reply | More ]

Thank you. My ped said some babies are "lazy" - but this answer seemed unsatisfying to me! [ Reply | More ]

i joke that db is lazy. in fact, my 5 yo nephew said just that this weekend when db refused to stand up and wanted to be carried;-) but i also thing that her care takers (me, dh and our nanny) don't work with her enough. i had the "she'll do everything at her own pace" attitude, but when she wasn't standing up at 13 mo, i really go worried. it may just have been the right time for her, but after working with her on standing a lot for a little more than a week, she did it [ Reply | More ]
