Girl, you are me. I have a 4 year old dd and the whining is overwelming sometimes. It can be physically painful sometimes. Don't beat yourself up. These things happen. You are human. He won't even remember it. [ Reply | More ]

op: Thanks for understanding but lately I feel like all I do is yell after he whines. Whine, yell, whine, yell, whine, yell arrrghhhh. I try to say that I won't answer to whining but his incessant pushing makes me want to scream [ Reply | More ]

I know. I hear ya. I try to tell mine that I can't understand her when she talks like that. I say if she is going to whine then she is going to have to do it in her room. When she's done whining she can come out. It doesn't always work. But sometimes it does, and those times save my sanity! LOL [ Reply | More ]

I believe the whining is meant to get you crazy. This is a cycle that can be managed better. Read 123 Magic. (FWIW as hard as I try I still lose my cool when I PMS.) [ Reply | More ]

np: sorry if this sounds sancti or pat. but there are things you can do to control yourself. especially since you know it's coming. plan your morning better. have a prepared response for whining. have specific options. let him know what you expect of him and what he in turn can expect from you. i used to have horrible mornings and they are getting much better now that i spend time preparing for them. op: Thanks for the tips. We have always followed this MO from day one. He was a very early talker (and manipulator) so we started early. Lately, as he approaches 4 YO he has become a monster in the whining/get my way dept. Serioulsy, I app. your help. [ Reply | More ]

op: Now that I will try. I was getting dressed this AM as he fell apart on the floor next to me, talking to myself so I wouldn't react to him. Soooo effing hard. I manage an entire dept., staff, etc and nothing comes as close to hard.... [ Reply | More ]
