potty training of 3yo ds - went cold turkey for 3 days, seems to be working during the day - but what do you do at night??? I don't give him fluids before bed but he still needs to pee. Last night he woke up at 2:30am asking for water & I told him that he needs to pee first which he did so he woke up relatively dry. But do I wake him up every night??? Or just leave him be and wash sheets every night for now? THANK YOU! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Pull ups for bedtime. Newly potty trained dcs aren't overnight trained for a few months [ Reply | More ]

op: according to the books that I have read it it will confuse the child - is there something that will look like underwear but will absorb? Also, did your dc wake up earlier once s/he was potty trained? I asked my ds to call me when he needs to go - he now wakes up 45min earlier!!! Is that forever? Thanks! [ Reply | More ]

They make pads that you can put on the bed under him. I have them for my father-in-law. Inexpensive, washable, keeps him comfortable if he has an accident. [ Reply | More ]

op: like a sheet? But the blanket will be soaked occasionally, correct? I almost want to use feminine napkins for him but I think he will get itchy. [ Reply | More ]

you cant train at night - either they will wake up or stay dry at night but you just have to wait until they are ready. can be months, or years. [ Reply | More ]

Huh? Pull ups for nighttime. After a few weeks or months, dcs wake up dry on their own, and that's when you stop using pull ups. [ Reply | More ]

op: but he is so proud he is out of diapers and not like his baby brother anymore. If I put the pull ups back on, it will be the end of it. (fwiw, we used pull ups for the past 3-4 months, unfortunately, and it didn't work - he would ask to go potty at home but never outside, so it does confuse them.) [ Reply | More ]

Use pull ups outside, you mean? Most people I know use pull ups only for bedtime until dc wakes up dry a few nights in a row, then switch to undearwear to bed. [ Reply | More ]

op: sorry, what I meant was that I didn't want to use pull ups for nighttime because they are not 'special' anymore since we used them for a few months already instead of diapers, so it is diapers for him. [ Reply | More ]
