This is awful but I see a few things at work here: 1) the child should never have been placed in that "least restrictive" setting - clearly was not working out for him particularly because his teacher has no clue how to educate or remediate him so bottom line is that the local EI failed him. This is an outrage for all involved and I feel so terribly sad for the little boy. [ Reply | More ]

such a disgusting situation, but I want to point out that "not having problems at preschool" isn't really relevant here. preschool is such an entirely different atmosphere than K. K requires focus. To complicate this, he is *just* being dx'd, so parents didn't know that he would need a different environment. The teacher's actions are repulsive, though, no matter what. [ Reply | More ]

He doesn't even have an IEP yet, right? I don't think he was ever in EI - and he's 5, so he's long out of EI anyway. No matter what, this teacher is a poor teacher. [ Reply | More ]
