Is it true that specialized HS admission is based on middle school grades? Except for Stuy? Is MS grading based on a curve? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Not really. LaGuardia is based on audition/portfolio along with academic & attendance. There are 8 HS which admit on the basis of the SHSAT (specialized HS admissions test): Stuy, Bronx Sci, Brooklyn Tech, HS of American Studies at Lehman, Brooklyn Latin, HS for Math Science & Engineering at City College, Queens HS for the Sciences at York College and SI Tech. ^^Other selective HS also use a combination of factors. Beacon HS requires a portfolio & interview + grades, test scores & recommendations. Bard HS administers its own test to kids who qualify through test scores, then interview. [ Reply | More ]
