my sister had a baby at 16. niece is now 8. sister is bipolar and not functioning. My parents are drowning in pain. She's an awful mom and horrible to DD. I've begged my parents to call DYFS but they have always been too afraid of my sister's outbursts and have enabled her for years. Finally, they have reached their breaking point. They are both retiring. Want to take DD and kick sister out. (It's a long story. But I think that's the only option at this point.) But without a history with DYFS, any chance of them (or me) getting custody at this point? They do have a family therapist who has worked with my niece for 3 years and knows everything...
