My dd's 5 yo friend is going to have surgery to fix the hole in her heart. Not open heart but the kind where they go through the groin. Anyone familiar with this? And what should we send for a get well gift to her? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

yes -- a little girl in my DS's preschool class had this done when she turned 4 -- it's not as scary as you think. and the recovery is swift. but it would be nice to send a little something... [ Reply | More

not that familiar with that particular surgery, but for the kid some books or DVDs - things she can do while recuperating would be good. For her mom, can you bring dinner over or watch her other kids if she has them so that Mom can focus on the sick kid? [ Reply | More

ds has been thru this a few times. called a catheterization. will be uncomfortable moving around for a while so anything that can be done while in bed. for us it was dvds, dvds, and more dvds. craft kits, etc [ Reply | More
