What type of chapter books. My DD who turned 5 in April can sound out almost anyword and knows a lot of words by sight that she seen before but won't ready any books without pictures. Sometimes I can get her to read a page or two in a book without pictures but generally she has no interest. I don't want to push her to read things she's not interested in since she just turned 5 but still would like her to try to read books with no pics [ Reply | More ]

np. I don't understand this type of post. You say you don't want to push her, and you know you shouldn't push her, but you conclude in a way that makes it sound like you'll go ahead and push her anyway. If she's not interested in books without pictures LEAVE HER ALONE. Period. [ Reply | More ]

I agree with this poster, although not with her aggressiveness. What possible difference can it make if a 5 yo reads a book without pictures? Back off. [ Reply | More ]

Clearly you have a problem and are bitter over something. Stop taking it out on other moms on UB. What is it? Was your child diagnosed with a learning disorder? Did your dh leave you? Get counseling rather than being a bixxx to people on UB [ Reply | More ]

Private, too. coed. I know what you mean... very grateful that I don't have to rely on DOE anymore but at the same time, since we didnt' apply to any G&T, it's helping someone to get a seat. [ Reply | More ]

December (so young) DD, 99/99 (no ERB). Can read three letter words and "My First Reader" types of books. Not very interested in trying, but loves being read to. Will do 2nd grade math for an hour but will give up trying to read after 15 minutes. I'm not pushing. She'll get it next year when she's the youngest in her class and everyone else can read!
