I got a manicure from Pinky salon on UWS the day before I left on vacation. 3 days later in the middle of my vacation I got a bacterial infection on one of my fingers- it turned into a huge pussy abscess that I had to get drained by the resort Dr. We're home now, my finger still looks nasty- should I go to the salon and show it to them? Demand my $$$ back, just warn them that their manicurists aren't keeping clean? WWYD?? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

if you let a salon cut your cuticles, then you're opening yourself to infection. it doesn't mean you get the infection from the place -- actually it's more likely you got it later, from a doorknob, using the bathroom, subway pole, etc. [ Reply | More ]

OP: the tools that salons use- if they aren't clean can cause an infection fwiw. [ Reply | More ]

OP: I'm sorry, I wasn't clear- the infection was surrounding my cuticle- it was an obvious nail salon infection and they did not cut my cuticles- they used a tool to push them back. I specifically told her not to cut my cuticles. [ Reply | More ]

you don't get it. it's your responsibility to wash your hands once your nail polish dries. [ Reply | More ]

if you waltz in their and tell them they are dirty it's not going to go over well. you're going to make an ass of yourself and no one is going to give you a dime. suck it up. [ Reply | More ]

OP: It's all in the delivery- If I go in there politely and show them my finger and say - I got a manicure there last weekend and it became infected- I just think you should know and your manicurists should clean their tools a bit better- no harm in that. [ Reply | More ]

I don't think they will take it well, no matter how nice you are about it. Never go again and warn everybody. [ Reply | More ]

OP: I'm not going to sue them - come on- but if reputation spreads that they aren't clean, that's another story- [ Reply | More ]
