Unfortunately, they closed the restaurant next door- there is a family friendly place called Adobe Blues nearby (food is ok). You might also try Historic Richmondtown, which has a restaurant, and the Tibetan Museum [ Reply | More ]

Go up to Bear Mountain for a hike. Beautiful this time of year. Park and eat at the Bear Mt. Inn. [ Reply | More ]

you have to go up to Forest Ave - there is the King's Arm diner which is has good diner fare. Also, the Panini Grill a little further down is good. If you went over to Clove Lakes Park, there is the Lake Cafe (I think that's the name) that overlooks Clove Lake. It's really pretty. You can rent a paddle boat. And it's a good park for a bike ride. OH - and if you want the best pizza ever, go to Denino's on Port Richmond Ave. The restaurant itself is like a cave (totally interior) but the pizza is phenomenal. And then go across the street to Ralph's and have Italian ices for dessert. [ Reply | More ]

Yum, Denino's and Ralps. Hey OP, if you simply follow Richmn Terrace in the direction of the Bayonne Bridge and make a left when you see Port Richmond Avenue, that will take you up to Denino's. Nabe looks a little sketchy as you pass through but it's fine really, and agree the pizza and ices across the street at Ralps are so worth it. I'd do the children's museum while you're there at the gardens. You're literally right there, can do the boat section of the museum outdoors tomorrow! P.S. Be sure they're open tomorrow, as many museums are closed Mondays! P.P.S. There's a little castle with a maze garden on the grounds too. You can't go wrong with that whole cultural center. It is a great place for a bike ride, but they don't rent bikes just FYI. Also very close to the SI Zoo which is charming [ Reply | More ]

Oh, you're going to be so close to the children's museum, you could walk right over. It is AMAZING and the grounds are gorgeous. Pack a lunch in a backpack cooler? They have vending machines in downstairs cafe and tables to sit. [ Reply | More ]

Chinese Scholars Garden is in the Snug Harbor Cultural Center on Richmind Terrace. You could walk around Snug Harbor for a long time, so pretty. [ Reply | More ]
