Teacher here: I like GCs (b/c even if I don't love the store, I can find something or use the GC for a gift) or cash. I find Visa and AmEx gift cheques/cards to be a PITA -- store clerks are not always sure how to ring them and they can't be used online. (I'm being honest -- but, of course, I am grateful for all gifts, no matter what the form!) [ Reply | More

CASH CASH CASH. Cash may seem tacky but at the end of the day, they want hard cash. AMEX gift checks- you have to pay a fee i think 10%...i think the teachers would rather get the cash rather than have you fork over the fee to amex. [ Reply | More
